New Kensington, Pa. - Penn State Hazleton's (2-16, 2-10 PSUAC) efforts to get their season back on track stalled over the weekend as the team finished their road trip against western Penn State University Athletic Conference opponents with an 0-4 record. On Sunday the Lions were swept 3-0 by the second place squad from Penn State Fayette (10-7, 8-1 PSUAC), followed by a 3-1 defeat at the hands of host team Penn State New Kensington (4-11, 4-4 PSUAC).

The Lady Lions got off to a slow start offensively against New Kensinton, losing set one by a score of 25-12, then stumbling in set two to the tune of a 25-15 defeat. Hazleton responded in set three, defeating New Kensington 25-22, but could not match that effort in the fourth frame, losing the set 25-21 and the match 3-1.
Hazleton was led by Junior Miranda Dunne's (Montrose, Pa.) 27 assists and three kills. Junior Tina Beiland (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Senior Aneesha Reese (Philadelphia, Pa.) totaled eight kills and four digs apiece.
New Kensington's Bethany Weiblinger supplied the home team with nine kills and 22 assists, while teammate Cora Rejniak score 10 kills and five digs to lead the offense.
Next up: Hazleton returns home for a PSUAC rematch with Penn State Schuylkill on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas M. Cacesse Gymnasium. Schuylkill won the previous matchup back on September 20 by a 3-0 margin.
