Hazleton, Pa. - Last week junior Abby Bessoir (Dunmore, Pa.) was announced as Hazleton's third United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American in the past two seasons, adding the honor to her 2019 resume that includes a Penn State University Athletic Conference post-season award.
Bessoir transitioned from her natural position as a setter to become Hazleton's top hitter in 2019 with 131 kills in 52 sets of action. Her 2.52 kills per set led the squad and ranked 16th overall in USCAA Division II women's volleyball. Bessoir totaled double figures in the kill department six times over the course of the season including a season high 20 kills against Penn State Lehigh Valley on October 8. The junior added 1.81 digs per set, 19 service aces and a team high .132 hitting percentage to earn All-American status, adding a 2nd team PSUAC All-Conference team selection in the process.
