Alayna Welsh signs with Penn State Hazleton
Greencastle, PA native, Alayna Welsh signs to continue her Volleyball career at Penn State Hazleton
With the addition of Alyana Welsh to the roster, Penn State Hazleton Head Volleyball Coach Noel Kaufman continues to build a dominate team heading into the 2022 PSUAC season. Welsh is a libero who played her high school career at Greencastle Antrim High School in Greencastle, PA. While at Greencastle Antrim, she was a three-year varsity starter and was named Captain during her senior season. Alayna finished the season 2nd in the league for number of digs during the 2021 season and was rewarded for her play by being named First Team All-league Libero. Welsh was also a member of the Blue Devils Track & Field team.
"Alyana will be a welcome addition to the 2022 Volleyball squad here at Penn State Hazleton," said Head Coach Noel Kaufman. "We lost alot of players from last year's squad, but really worked hard to bring in complete volleyball players. We had a need for back-row specialists, and Alyana fits the bill! She is court-smart, knows the game, and plays all over the court."
Welsh is the daughter of Lynn and Steven Welsh. She had four siblings at home - Alyssa, Adrien, Allie, and Alexis. While at Penn State Hazleton, she will work on her degree in the Physical Therapy Assistant's program, one of the most competitive programs on campus. When not playing volleyball, Alayna likes to work out and take part in all sorts of outdoor activities.
