HAZLETON, Pa. -- Penn State Hazleton fell 6-1 to NCAA Division III opponent Penn State Berks on a cold, misty night on top of the hill at Hazleton in a non-conference soccer game on Monday evening. A close game through halftime, Berks pulled away in the second half for win.
Hazleton (5-7-1, 3-5-1 PSUAC) trailed 1-0 at the half, but a flurry of Lions goals quickly made it 4-0. Steven Principe (Jim Thorpe, Pa.) netted the Nittany Lions' only goal to make it 4-1, but Berks tacked on two goals late to get the final score. The goal is Principe's 10th of the season, which leads the team.
Berks was led by Isaiah Danner with two goals, both in the second half.
Next up for Hazleton is a non-conference rematch with Davis College on Wednesday, October 15. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
