Hazleton Softball adds Katherine Rapp to 2023-24 roster
Hazleton, Pa. - Katherine Rapp of Paxinos, Pa. is set to hit the diamond with the Hazleton Nittany Lion Softball team for the 2023-24 season. Rapp recently graduated from Danville Area High School where she competed for three seasons with the Ironmen for three seasons at the varsity level. Rapp helped the team to a 2021 PIAA District IV championship and captained the team as a senior in 2023. Katherine played a major role in each of her three seasons thanks in part to her versatility, working the field as a catcher and utility player, with some excellent work in the outfield for the Danville squad.
"Kat" has a knack for putting the bat on the ball," said Head Coach Rachel Gricoski. "I'm excited to see her bring her small-town charm and high energy to the program. She's going to be a great asset to the team, and I can't wait to see her reach her potential as a collegiate athlete."
Rapp will be majoring in Animal Science and seeks a minor in Political Science while attending Penn State with the goal of attending law school after graduation. Katherine plans to work in government one day to bridge the gap between the government and the farming community in a difficult and ever-changing industry. Rapp's love for agriculture permeates much of her personal and educational experiences. Rapp has been involved with the High School Rodeo circuit and the Keystone Junior Rodeo Association where she is a state and national award-winner for the pole-bending event and for showing livestock.
