Lindsey Barron joins Penn State Hazleton Volleyball
Hazleton, Pa. - Lindsey Barron of Drums, Pa. has signed on to compete with Penn State Hazleton Volleyball for the 2023-24 season. Barron attended the Hazleton Area Academy of Sciences and competed with the Cougars varsity squad for all four of her high school seasons. Barron helped the Cougars to runner-up finishes in the Wyoming Valley Conference in 2020 and 2021 and was named a second-team All-Star during her senior campaign as co-captain of the team. Barron has a very diverse skill set, competing as a defensive specialist, outside hitter and setter and annually practices and participates with the Electric City Volleyball Academy in the offseason. Off the volleyball court, Lindsey played high school basketball for one season and is currently finishing up her high school track and field career at Hazleton where she runs the hurdles and was a district qualifier as a junior.
"Lindsey is a tremendously versatile player who will bolster our depth on the roster," according to head coach Noel Kaufman. "She has a great defensive mentality which will go a long way to helping us achieve success in the near future."
For a long time, Lindsey knew she wanted to continue her education at Penn State, but the opportunity to continue her volleyball career drew her to the Hazleton Campus. While at Penn State Hazleton, Lindsey plans to work hard every day to earn a spot on the court while successfully earning a high grade point average and participating in research at one of the top research universities in the country. Ultimately Lindsey wants to pursue a degree in forensic science, helping victims and families to recover and find closure.
